Its the invention of the spectacle by the market economy, or by capitalism and here lies the main difference of his critique.

What is the objective of the spectacle?

passive consumer and predictable individual instead of an active participant in society,

the spectactor sacrifice authenticy to fit in society and isnt a decision makeer in his life. he is a passive human just waiting for orders, if youre passive what do you contribute to society?the ideal person for the market or create they dont rebel or create. just passively consume.
