posthumous regret

my troubled experience with technology

te-nnitus (noun)

(technological tinnitus)

A condition in which the mind internalizes the ambient systems of modern life—media, notifications, alerts, simulations—until they persist even in their absence. Technological tinnitus is not the sound of machines, but the after-sound of mediation: the low, anxious hum left behind when technology has taught consciousness to expect interruption. The tv sounds playing even if no one is listening.

I find myself wanting to write more and publish my ideas but i find staring at a screen more fatiguing each day. The fatigue of staring at a computer, spending time on devices drives me insane. I want to not have to deal with excess and spend time on my fancy computer searching videos. Sure, it functions for some other stuff sometimes but honestly its a minor use case. Notes on my notebook are soothing the way a fine grain ash feels over sharp splitting pinewood. The pinewood being my computer, both jot my ideas and serve their purpose but something about the computer feels like noise. The kind of noise that would slowly drive someone mad. Technological tinnitus. I’ll call it, white noise by don dellio might fit this.
